Registration Requirements
The award listed on your original FAAN represents an offer based on full-time registration for each term of the academic year. To receive your full award, you must register for a full-time credit load (audit, Independent Study, special exam, and credits taken at other institutions do not count) and be admitted to a degree program for the terms you are awarded aid. Your award will be adjusted if you register for less than full-time status; do not attend UMC for both semesters; or are not admitted to a degree program.
Enrollment status is determined by the number of credit hours you are officially enrolled in at UMC and is defined differently for the Minnesota State Grant Program (see example below) than it is for federal and UMC financial aid as illustrated in the following chart:

Financial aid options are limited if you are admitted as an “adult special” student. Part-time students are eligible to apply for the Minnesota State Grant. In addition, a limited amount of aid is available through the Berland Adult Opportunity Grant for students who have not been enrolled in school for 5 or more years. Contact the Office of Admissions for more information and application forms.
