Grants
Scholarships and grants, also called gift aid, are funds that are not paid back. Grants are usually based on need; scholarships may be based on need as well as other criteria such as academic achievement, leadership, and accomplishments.
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
If you are a Federal Pell Grant recipient, your student record will be evaluated for an award of up to $750 for the first academic year of study and up to $1,300 for the second academic year of study from this new, federally-funded gift program. In addition to being a Federal Pell Grant recipient, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- be a U.S. citizen
- be enrolled full time in a degree program
- have successfully completed a rigorous secondary school program of study, as designated by the state of Minnesota
- have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to receive an award for a second year of study
Annual award amounts may be reduced by the U.S. Department of Education, if sufficient funds are not available for all eligible students in an award year.
National SMART (Science And Mathematics Access to Retain Talent) Grant
If you are a Federal Pell Grant recipient, your student record will be evaluated for this federally-funded gift program that awards $4,000 for each of the third and fourth academic year of study. To be eligible, you must:
- be a U.S. citizen
- be enrolled full time
- have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA
- be majoring in one of the following:
- Animal Industries Management BS, Computer Software Tech BS, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Management BMM, Plant Industries Management
Annual award amounts may be reduced by the U.S. Department of Education if sufficient funds are not available for all eligible students in an award year.
